Genesis is expanding its line-up of fully electric cars, with a new model based on its existing GV70 SUV.

The Mercedes EQC rival joins the Korean luxury brand’s growing line-up, sitting alongside the electrified G80 saloon and recently launched GV60 hatchback.

Using a twin-motor arrangement, the all-wheel-drive Electrified GV70 has a maximum power output of 435PS and 700Nm. It gives the car a 0-62mph accelerating time of just 4.2 seconds.

The Electrified GV70 is equipped with a 77.4kWh battery, enabling an estimated range of 248 miles. Final specifications are yet to be confirmed.

Rapid charging capability of 350kW enables the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes.

The electric GV70 is also equipped with vehicle-to-load functionality, allowing users to power an external appliance from the car’s battery.

Revealing the car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Dominique Boesch, managing director for Genesis Motor Europe, said: “We are delighted to unveil Electrified GV70 the very first time in Europe at the world-famous Goodwood Festival of Speed. Featuring our cutting edge electrical architecture and focus on luxurious sustainability, it represents another big step in our commitment to deliver an all-electric line-up of vehicles by 2025.

“As with our other SUV models, it retains exceptional versatility and usability, as well as unrivalled comfort and driving pleasure. As the third new electric car from Genesis to be launched in Europe in under a year, Electrified GV70 is further evidence of the brand’s bold ambitions for the region”.

The electric GV70 is the first Genesis model to feature the SUV-specific e-Terrain Mode, which enables a stable driving experience in various environments.

Full pricing and specification for Electrified GV70 will be announced later this summer, with order books opening shortly after.
